Gym Night (Junior & Senior High)
In a letter to Ephesians Paul wrote, “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good
works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). Grace Youth Ministries will be
launching GYM night on Sunday, September 16th at 6:00 PM. Our theme for this year is “Get a G.R.I.P.”
(Spiritual Gifts, Resources, Individual Experiences, Passions). God has brought each of us together to
encourage and strengthen one another.
Each of you has been uniquely designed to contribute in your own unique way to building into the lives of the people around you. He has given you unique spiritual gifts.
He has given you resources that perhaps only you can share whether such as skills, abilities, time, or
possessions. You have experiences both good and bad you can use to strengthen others. Finally there are
things that excite and motivate you. God has given you those desires and passions to use for His purposes
and make a difference for all of eternity. Do not lose hold of who you are in Christ; Get a G.R.I.P!
As part of this year’s theme, we’ll be going through an 8-week series on “Distortions.” We are going to
look at several areas such as self-worth, community and power; and how through sin and the world we can
develop a distorted view about them that causes us to lose a grip on who we are in Christ. It is my prayer
that through discussing and learning about the distortions of these eight areas, the students will have
a clear understanding of what role each of these issues play in their lives and how that develops their
identity and purpose in Christ.
During GYM night we will also have fun together with various games such as air hockey, foosball, DDR, and
electronic basketball. More importantly we’ll gather together to worship and study God’s Word. Every
few weeks we will get together for a “Community Builder” event to strengthen our friendships within the
group and to reach out and bring others in. It is my prayer that GYM (Grace Youth Ministries) will “Get a G.R.I.P” in 2007!
